Children Can Catch Free Family Movie and a New Spin in Learning with Little Ivy Academy at Movie in Park Night
Elementary school-age children will “Catch a New Spin on Learning” when they visit Little Ivy Academy’s portable learning center at the Ridgewood Guild’s Movies in The Park night this Wednesday, August 22.
We will be on hand before the complimentary showing of Adventures of Tin Tin with free Flying Disks for children ages 5-10. . . and to provide each child and their family with a hands-on opportunity to learn more about Little Ivy Academy’s thoughtfully crafted RealScience!, ArtWorks! & Express Yourself! Fall 2012 Enrichment Learning Lab courses and Mentored Tutoring programs-- exclusively for local elementary school children.
When you and your child visit with us in Ridgewood’s Van Neste Park on East Ridgewood Avenue for the Guild’s movie night – we’ll be there starting at 7:30 p.m. (approximately 90 minutes before showtime) —you’ll. . .
+ Discover how your child will learn to engineer their own robotic machines and set them in motion with our age-appropriate programming language in our The Robots are Coming! courses, part of our RealScience-S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) programs;
+ Explore how our Time to Fly course unlocks the secrets of flight (and school-day math & science). . . while building your own “flying flinker”;
+ Have some big, messy fun learning about how our ArtWorks! Faces & Feelings courses harness you child’s need to express in pictures the setting of a story, an electrifying science project or the emotion of a poem using the technique of art masters; and
+ Learn more about The Mysteries: We’re On the Case! and Be the Biographer, our two, action-packed reading and writing clubs this fall.
“Our Enrichment Learning Lab courses & Mentored Tutoring programs put a new, 21st Century spin on learning for local elementary school students by combining the big, messy fun of after-school and weekend programs and an evolving curriculum that tracks both local public school and New Jersey’s core curriculum standards,” said Little Ivy Academy Director Erich Bassler.
“So we thought the Flying Disks and a free outdoor showing of Tin Tin would be fun way to introduce local elementary school children and their families to our fall Enrichment Learning Lab courses and Mentored Tutoring programs,” he said.
When they’re not launching a new spin on Movies in the Park, Little Ivy’s Academy’s teachers provide thoughtfully crafted individualized Mentored Tutoring programs in Reading, Writing, Math & Art and small-group Learning Enrichment Labs that track both local public school and New Jersey’s core curriculum standards, including RealScience! S.T.E.M courses; ArtWorks! courses that take the paint and clay to expressing ideas, thoughts and feelings; and Express Yourself!, enjoyable reading and writing courses that develop your child’s ability to better express themselves in school and beyond.
Little Ivy Academy is located in the Education Building on the campus of Little Ivy Learning Center 660 East Glen Avenue, Ridgewood, NJ—just next to the Schoolhouse Museum. Please Note: Adventures of Tin Tin is a PG rated film, so we suggest that if you are not familiar with the film you might want to read a review or two to help you decide whether this film adaptation of the classic children’s comics by Belgian author Herge is appropriate for your family.
In the event of rain, the Flying Disks will be available during scheduled visits to Little Ivy Academy during the month of August. The Flying Disks will be available while supplies last and are limited to one per child between the ages of 5-10.
