Children to “Catch a New Spin” with Little Ivy Academy at Ridgewood Summer Sidewalk Sale Days
Elementary school-age children will “Catch a New Spin on Learning” when they visit Little Ivy Academy’s portable learning center at Ridgewood Summer Sidewalk Sale Days Thursday, Friday and Saturday (Aug. 2, 3 & 4).
We will be on hand from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, and noon-2 p.m. on Saturday with free Flying Disks for children ages 5-10. . . and to provide each child and their family with a hands-on opportunity to learn more about Little Ivy Academy’s thoughtfully crafted Fall 2012 Enrichment Learning Lab courses and Mentored Tutoring programs-- exclusively for local elementary school children.
When you and your child visit with us at Summer Sidewalk Sale Days-- just next to the “Ice Cream Boy” statue in front of Van Neste Park on East Ridgewood Avenue—you will. . .
+ Discover how your child will learn to engineer their own robotic machines and set them in motion with our age-appropriate programming language in our The Robots are Coming! courses, part of our RealScience-S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) program;
+ Explore how our Time to Fly course unlocks the secrets of flight (and school-day math & science). . . while building your own “flying flinker”; and
+ Have some big, messy fun learning about how our ArtWorks! courses harnesses you child’s need to express in pictures the setting of a story, an electrifying science project or the emotion of a poem using the technique of art masters.
“Our Enrichment Learning Lab courses & Mentored Tutoring programs put a new, 21st Century spin on learning for local elementary school students by combining the big, messy fun of after-school and weekend programs and an evolving curriculum that tracks both local public school and New Jersey’s core curriculum standards,” said Little Ivy Academy Director Erich Bassler.
“So we thought the Flying Disks would be fun way to introduce local elementary school children and their families to our fall Enrichment Learning Lab courses and Mentored Tutoring programs,” he said. “And we look forward to meeting you and your child during Ridgewood Sidewalk Sale Days.”
When they’re not launching a new spin on Ridgewood Summer Sidewalk Sale Days, Little Ivy’s Academy’s teachers provide thoughtfully crafted individualized Mentored Tutoring programs in Reading, Writing, Math & Art and small-group Learning Enrichment Labs that track both local public school and New Jersey’s core curriculum standards, including RealScience! S.T.E.M courses; ArtWorks! courses that take the paint and clay to expressing ideas, thoughts and feelings; and Express Yourself!, enjoyable reading and writing courses that develop your child’s ability to better express themselves in school and beyond.
