Really? I feel badly for those folks, but we have had NO POWER since the first day of the storm in Ridgewood. Where are the Ridgewood leaders working with PSEG to get power for all of us???? I hear routine reports from Wyckoff Patch, from Wyckoff leaders that they are working relentlessly. Not so from Ridgewood. Where are our leaders? We are very, very COLD!!!

While i am accepting, appreciative and compassionate that PSE&G crews have worked extremely hard under the most difficult circumstances to restore power, I find it entirely unreasonable and unacceptable that PSE&G isn't communicating appropriately with its customers - particularly those like us without power.

1. If a takedown of power in my home and others around here were "planned" in advance to accommodate others, why were we not notified by PSEG with email or an automated message in advance? How long was this planned??? 15 minutes prior to a planned shutdown we get an we get an Email from Dr. Fishbein about Travell and Ben Franklin losing power?? Unacceptable.

2. After waiting pn hold for 15 minutes, Why wouldn't the customer service representatives at PSE&G explained the situation consistently - at 2pm they tell me "within an hour" while at same time neighbor is told 4-6 hours?

3. Having seen hundreds of tweets from PSE&G on Twitter over the past few days and today touting their restoration progress in other towns, why wouldn't they use this powerful tool to advise the public let alone ridgewood "channels" regarding circumstances like what we are currently facing?

Our government officials at the village, county and state level must address these matters to ensure full transparency, greater accuracy and accountability in the communications from PSEG and all of our public utilities. At present, it's all lies.

This is what Wyckoff is doing. WHERE IS OUR MAYOR? Who is our advocate? Children and elderly are freezing IN RIDGEWOOD!

Wyckoff Patch: "I continue to press PSE&G and Orange & Rockland, and the presidents of those companies, to get the job done and get power restored to all 17,000 of our residents," DePhillips said. "I have urged the utilities in the strongest possible terms to keep crews coming into Wyckoff to move us from 85 percent to 90 percent restoration to 100 percent restoration."

Still not on going on 5 hrs

Lambasting PSE&G on the town's website and in robocalls to residents does absolutely nothing to help the situation. In fact, their near-hysterical messages probably do more harm than good as they serve to rile-up already storm-weary residents.

When I find you, and your 6th grader vocabulary it won't be pretty. You are lucky it's dark around here.

I'm not making any judgments as to its effectiveness, just merely pointing out that people aren't sitting by idly. I expect residents will draw their own conclusions – they always do. There will be a council meeting tonight at 7:30 p.m. (unless canceled last minute) if you want to sound off.

Good morning. This is Ridgewood Mayor Paul Aronsohn.

Yesterday, PSEG estimated that over 80%of Ridgewood had power -- a considerable increase from the day before. And while we think that estimate is overly optimistic, I am pleased to note that many Ridgewood homes did, in fact, have their power restored over the past 36 hours.

Clearly, that is good news, but clearly, too, that is not good enough.

As I drove around Ridgewood late last night, it was obvious that some neighborhoods, some homes were still very much in the dark. Nine days after the storm, that is unacceptable, and none of us ... neither the Village Council nor the Village staff...will be satisfied until each and every home in Ridgewood has its power restored. In fact, I was on the phone this morning at 6am with our PSEG Regional Director urging him to again send more trucks and more linesmen back to Ridgewood ... underscoring the need to get the job done as soon as possible.

Going forward, there are three things we should do:

For those without power, it is important that you call PSEG, once again, to make sure that the folks there have your specific house information. With so many areas restored, it is absolutely critical that PSEG knows that your house still has no power. (CONT.)

(CONT.) For those of us in Village government, we will remain single-mindedly focused on making sure that every household gets its power back as soon as possible.

And for those with power -- regardless of who you are or where you are -- please extend yourself to those in need. Open your home and open your hearts. Again, many of our neighbors are still hurting and still in need of a warm meal and a warm home.

Tonight, the Village Council will meet at 7:30pm in Village Hall. We encourage all residents to join us. There will be a chance for you to express your feelings and ask your questions. There will also be a briefing on the storm .. it's impact and our recovery.

Why isn’t Mayor Aronsohn communicating with us, and PSEG, respectfully and often. These are VERY serious circumstances and hearing from you, James, is NOT adequate. I can NOT make or take calls at home, because I have NO power! Please ASK Mr. Aronsohn to communicate with us on Patch, as the Wyckoff mayor has done and to speak for those of us who CANNOT make phone calls. In addition, I receive frequent updates from Wyckoff on Facebook. I’m not asking Ridgewood to be THAT tech savvy, but this is ridiculous. You think big news is that some people just lost POWER again? That makes me fully aware that no one seems to know there are others who are dealing with much, much more serious circumstances!

Ridgewood is better than this... at least I use to think so...

James, thanks for all your work. The Patch has been THE source of information for so many over the past week and a half. I didn't mean my comment to be critical of your reporting at all.

I can tell you that I received numerous communications via email, text messages and the phone from both the village and the schools. If anything they are over communicating the information. If you have no power how are you reading the Patch?

Apologies again. I am cold and tired and didn't realize how harsh I may have sounded. James, I think you do an outstanding job for us and always appreciate the news you post. I only wanted to point out that there was little recognition in that posting about the schools of the people out of power for 9 days. I in no way wanted to say that was not important as well... I was simply feeling forgotten. Again, my apologies. I may not have seen all the messages from our Mayor, but I sure do appreciate seeing what he posted tonight. Thank you all for your efforts. I'm cold and tired and apologize if my messages seem harsh. I will call PSEG again .... thank you for that guidance.

James do you know anything about a transformer going out in Ho Ho Kus? Is that whats causing the power outtage in Travell area?

So let me get this straight, Alfreddie -- it appears that you did not sign up for email, text or phone alerts, and you do not follow the Village on Facebook or Twitter. So how, exactly, might the mayor have more satisfactorily kept you abreast of what he and the Council have been doing? I agree with Mr. Bombace above -- the communication has almost been too much: every day I get a phone call on my home number and on my cell, plus an email, plus the notifications from Facebook and Twitter and, if I'm not mistaken, some text messages, too. All from the Village/Mayor. Not only that, the text of most of these messages sounds almost verbatim like that of Wyckoff's mayor -- about pressing PSE&G's corporate leadership and involving state and local officials as well.

I forgot to add, to Mr/Ms. Alfreddie, I sincerely hope you -- and all Ridgewood residents -- are back in your home(s) with full power very soon!

Again, my sincere apologies to everyone! I do not have children in school and only saw Patch intermittently in 9 days. When I read the last one about the outage for a few hours, it appeared to me that the people like me who had been cold for 9 days were forgotten and no, I did not get all the communication that it seems everyone else did. I apologize if I sounded harsh. I should not have capitalized any letters and should not have expressed my exasperation for being cold and tired and out of the loop because I borrow my friends email connection. I did somehow sign up for the Wyckoff facebook notices, but somehow missed the Ridgewood ones. Again, my very sincere apologies for missing that. Hopefully this will all be over soon. I am assured that people are aware of the people who never had power and I am very, very sorry for criticizing others when it was me who was not connected. Please accept my apology.

I would like to commend our Mayor Paul Aronsohn,the council, and Dr Fishbein for a magnificent job keeping us updated on developments during these tough times. Great use of Facebook, Twitter and the cell phone calls. For someone to get on here and complain that they were not being informed is outrageous.

Rb, it's tough to get messages by the media you suggest if you don't have power. All of the methods require power, including most phones

Alfreddie I am not sure you know but Mt Carmel Church warming shelter is open 24 hours a day. They are located at 1 Passaic St. They have volunteers who staff the shelter 24/7. You can sleep there, get a hot/cold meal, hot coffee/tea and charge up your phone and talk to others. I just left there after volunteering for 2 hours.

Has power been restored to Travell, BF and the neighborhood?

No. We had a 45 second tease about two hours ago, but not a flicker since.

Lights just came back on in Travell area - for good let's hope. Now if the same can be done for all our neighbors who are stillin the cold and dark, that would truly be something to celebrate.

On the way home from work, around 9, I saw a pseg truck on east glen. The worker was up in the cherry picker, in blinding snow, working away to get the power restored there. For all of the problems, those guys are out there working their tails off in the cold and putting themselves in harm's way. I appreciate it.
