'Cake Boss': Many 'Great Projects' Planned in Ridgewood

In case you've forgotten, Carlo's City Hall Bake Shop will be opening its second location at 12 Wilsey Square.

His arrival is imminent, that much is clear. 'Cake Boss' Buddy Valastro has begun to the process to shape the first floor of Ridgewood's historical Playhouse Theater building into a cake-makin' powerhouse.

Carlo's City Hall Bake Shop, a fixture in Hoboken for more than a century, announced it would be opening its second location in Ridgewood, expected to open late November.

The first sign of progress is there, as evidenced by Buddy's Facebook post: "Our temporary signs are up at Ridgewood," the baker wrote. "We've got so many great projects planned, can't wait to see it all come together!"

"We expect to do very well in Ridgewood," Valastro previously told Patch. "We have some really cool offerings at this new location, like a custom cake bar and a party room for kids to have birthday parties. We're excited about the opportunities."

Fans of the TLC show 'Cake Boss' might just see themselves on TV when the cameras arrive in the village sometime in 2013.

I just moved from Hoboken to Ridgewood.
In Hoboken there are all day, multi-block long lines of Cake Boss "Fans" waiting to enter the bakery.
This will change the whole fabric of the west side commercial district, for the worse.

I moved here in 1969. I'll be very happy to see a thriving business in town instead of empty stores. Nobody complains about the lines @ the bookstore!

I do not believe this will be good for ridgewood. "Cake Boss" is a gimick and will suck dollars away from more genuine establishments.

Gimmick???? The bakery has been in business for over 100 Years. Doesn't sound like a gimmick to me. Genuine?? Ha just because there is a tv show filmed around that bakery defiantly doesn't make it any less genuine. Oh wait you must be one of those people that shop at Whole Foods because you believe that organic is so much better.. And I guess you don't shop at Home Depot or Lowe's because they are not as genuine as a local hardware store. Please if you do not have something good to say keep quiet. Good Luck Carlos Bakery and welcome to Ridgewood!!!
