Car Window Smashed, GPS Stolen in Ridgewood
An Oradell resident told police a man burglarized his car at 1200 E. Ridgewood Ave, police said.
A window was broken and a GPS stolen from a car parked at Ridgewood's largest office complex last Thursday, according to Ridgewood police.
Police say an Oradell resident observed a white male bashing in the window of the vehicle, taking a GPS and fleeing. A detective did not respond to further inquiries.
It's not the first time vehicles have been broken into at 1200 E. Ridgewood Ave., known as the Duck Pond building.
In Sept. 2011, a Ridgewood woman parked at the building and returning to find the passenger side window smashed. Her pocket book and laptop were reported stolen.
Days later, police responded to another car break-in at the Duck Pond, across the street. They found stolen purses in a dumpster near the vehicle. No suspects were ever caught.

That's the first question that comes into your mind?
Maybe they were looking out the window. Maybe the Oradell resident is aged or feeble. Maybe they were just plain scared.
The primary takeaway from any incident like this is that you should not leave valuables in plain sight in your vehicle, not that you should go Rambo on anyone who breaks into your car.
