Cops: Man Went to Court with Bag Full of Drugs

Randolph Hillenberg, 37, is facing charges he possessed cocaine, marijuana and prescription drugs when he attempted to go to Ridgewood Municipal Court.

Ridgewood police have a bit of advice for those heading to a court appearance in Ridgewood Village Hall – leave the drugs at home.

During a security screening at the court room entrance in Village Hall on Nov. 15, police claim Randolph Hillenberg, 37, of Ridgewood passed a backpack to Patrolman John Chuck. Chuck smelled marijuana emanating from the bag and upon inspection, found a ziplog bag that "contained marijuana, cocaine, numerous prescription pills and drug paraphernalia," police said in a statement.

Hillenberg was arrested and charged with possession of prescription drugs without a prescription, possession of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released following his first appearance, pending superior court action.

Even the best comedy writers could not think up such a great scenario for a Saturday Night Live skit.

I wonder how long it's going to be until the "It's society and the police officer's fault!" defense comes out! Because he is going to need one hell of a defense claim to beat these charges!

I've said it for years, but here we go again. Folks who turn to crime are usually not the brightest people out there. Although some of them are certainly "out there," they're still a pretty dim group. I think a profile interview of Mr. Hillenberg would make for an interesting read. I would love to know why someone might think, "Hey, I'm going to court today, better bring the Cocaine and the marijuana I'll need something to do while I wait. Yep, I'll just sprinkle these pills in as well. I would bring heroin and meth, but it's too bad I ran out of those yesterday. Bummer."
But I can't complain. Stupid people are what makes the world of journalism go round. So here's to you Mr. "I'm going to bring my whole stash to court." You're a true American nimrod.

I used to work with minimum security inmates. They are not the brightest bulbs in the pack. One once told me that no matter what my weekly take home pay was that he could make that and more on a friday night. "But You're in jail". His reply was that everyone in his neighborhood went to jail, you get 3 squares and your teeth fixed. He likened it to college for me. So let's help this dope get his teeth fixed.
