Driver Strikes Pedestrian, Flees Scene

Incident occurred on S. Broad St. Sunday afternoon.

Ridgewood police are searching for an SUV driver who struck a woman crossing S. Broad St. and fled the scene early Sunday afternoon.

According to Sgt. Brian Pullman, a female pedestrian was walking north on S. Broad St. when a woman driving a silver or grey SUV turned left onto Leroy Pl. and hit the pedestrian.

The victim told Patch she put her hands out to stop the vehicle and did a "ninja flip," landing on her side.

She sustained minor injuries to the wrist and knee. She declined to be transported to the hospital, Pullman said.

The driver took off after a brief exchange in which she inquired about the victim's injuries, Pullman said.

"It was clearly a hit and run," the victim said.

Police will continue to search for the driver's whereabouts.
