Heavy Fire Rips Through Glen Rock House [VIDEO]

No injuries reported in fire on Harristown Road Sunday night

[Update: the fire appears to be under control as of 10 p.m.]

Firefighters from numerous departments battled heavy flames at a Glen Rock house on the corner of Radburn Ave. and Harristown Road Sunday night but could not save the home.

Several emergency responders said the fire began around 7:30 p.m. at the ranch-style home after a cooking accident, likely from grease.

Captain Jonathan Miller reported no injuries have been reported in the blaze, but there is extensive damage to the house. It's extremely unlikely the house will not be condemned given the damage, emergency responders said.

Neighbors and friends were outside consoling the visibly shaken homeowner.

A large crowd of curious onlookers emerged, many of whom witnessed the garage partially collapse at around 9 p.m.

A burning scent could be smelled for blocks and heavy winds on a brisk winter night appeared to spread the flames, which shot through the roof.

"The [Thomas Jennings] said it's a stubborn fire," Miller said.

and Fair Lawn fire departments both assisted in putting down the fire.
