Getting to Know: Bryan Kule

New feature introduces you to residents, business owners

Bryan Kule — a father, husband, reality TV addict and RoCCA fan — is the owner of .

ON GLEN ROCK: I live here and I really love this town. I grew up in Bergen County, but never knew this town existed. It’s a little hide-away and all of my customers come in and say "I’ve never been here, what a nice town." I love the town pool, it’s a very young town, there are a lot of little kids — I have a two year old, so that’s good – it’s a throwback to the town where I grew up.

ON ENTERTAINMENT: I watch a ridiculous amount of reality TV to escape real reality. Every low-brow one you can think of, I watch them all with my wife. I watch “Bachelor Pad” and all of the “Housewives,” and “America’s Got Talent.” There are none that I really love; it’s just a way to turn your brain off at night.

ON TRAVEL: Honestly, I like the town so much I don’t feel the need to get away. I went down the shore and it’s nice to get away and all but I have a home and a store here — so I must really like it here.

ON WISHES: Three wishes? I don’t need that much, but I guess my first wish would be that I could retire now with enough money. I would want my family to be able to live to a very old age with me, and my final wish would be for some more time to be able to ride my Harley.

ON THE ISSUES: I come from a manufacturing background and when political talk mentions "job growth" I get really strong opinions. When they say that American manufacturing will come back, I think it’s all talk. It will never come back and if it does it will be such a small percentage of what it once was. When they say small business is the backbone of the economy and will create jobs — the government really does nothing for them. Political talk really drives me crazy. I hear it, I read about it, but it’s out of my control — but I do have a strong opinion when it comes to job creation. They aren’t doing anything to create jobs and they were the ones who caused jobs to disappear going back to the 1980s.

ON CHOW: My favorite place to eat is a strawberry place in Nyack; it’s the best breakfast place ever. It’s a dive but it’s the greatest food ever. Locally, is cool on Route 17. I also really like Tani in town here, it’s really good food. For dinner, my favorite of all time is the Thursday night tasting at in town. They are small meals that are power-packed with flavor. Once I had scallops with watermelon, you wouldn’t think of those two together but it was awesome.

ON LEARNING: The first thing that comes to my head is guitar, but it’s not something very useful — it’s just something I’ve always wanted to learn. I’ve also never learned chess... I guess when I retire and that genie grants me those three wishes I’ll learn how to play chess [chuckles].
