History lovers are invited to take a walking tour of Ridgewood's West Side on Sept. 23, where historians will be documenting the transition from cozy country retreat to tony suburb followed the Civil War. 

The tour, produced by the Ridgewood Historical Society, kicks off at 1:45 p.m. at the Ridge Elementary School lot. The 90-minute tour will start at the Pease House on 308 West Ridgewood Avenue, moving the length of North Murray Avenue. Six historic homes will be explored, including the architectural styles and history of the landmark properties.

The tour ends at 300 North Murray Avenue, the Colonial Revival built by the Palmer family and restored by the current owners.

Ridgewood Historical Society member and Ridgewood resident Elliot Dee will lead the tour. To reserve your ticket ($5 for an adult, $10 for a family) email info@ridgewoodhistoricalsociety.org. The tour is limited to 30 participants.
