VIDEO: Jamboree, a Village Tradition Like No Other
Producers and performers discuss the finer points of the 64-year tradition in which parents perform musical theater for students.
Since 1947, village moms and dads have banded together, sung, danced and just plain embarrassed themselves to put on Jamboree, a musical theater performance for kids. The show has provided scholarship funds for hundreds of students over the years. Jamboree 2011 is scheduled to open on Feb. 9 and runs through Feb. 12. but as explained by Producer Alane Steinacker, planning for "That's Life" started eleven months ago. There's more to the show behind the curtain. [Editor's Note: This piece ran originally on Jan. 20.]
