Junior Woman's Club Giving Mice Cookies, Giving To Those in Need
Catch "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie," a stage production of stories for kids at B.F. on Sunday; proceeds go to charity.
What happens when you give a mouse a cookie? Show up with your kids to the Junior Woman's Club-sponsored theater production of If You Give a Mouse a Cookie and you'll find out. The JWC will be bringing in top act Theatreworks USA to act out eight children's stories in musical theater to the delight of kids Pre-K-4.
“These Theaterworks Productions are like having a Broadway show in our Village," said Councilwoman Bernadette Walsh, the former president of the organization and current Executive Board member.
The councilwoman said that kids and parents have enjoyed the organization's previous events–notably Pinkalicious and Nate the Great–and she expects the popular children's book series will again enthrall families. "We try to keep current with the content," she said.
The multi-racial cast from the award-winning theater troupe will tell stories of various issues and themes to broaden ideas and perspectives of young kids.
Trish Manzo, the current president of the Junior Woman's Club, said it's the perfect event for families. "There's a long weekend with the kids being off from school," she said. "And it's cool for the kids to see an incredible show they'll have fun at but one in which they're also supporting families in need."
Besides, Manzo added, the show is on par with some of the best on Broadway.
The event, held at BF Middle School on Sunday at 1 p.m., will donate all of the proceeds to local charities like Shelter Our Sisters, Court Appointed Special Appointees and others. Tickets can be picked up at Town & Country and Bookends, which will also be donated a portion of the proceeds to charity.
Tickets are $18 if purchase at Bookends, Town & Country or online at the Junior Woman's Club website. Tickets are $20 at the door on the day of the event.
