Police asking public for help in identifying a suspect believed to have passed a bad check in October.

Police are asking for the public's help in identifying a man they say passed a fraudulent check worth almost $10,000 at a Glen Rock Bank.

According to the Glen Rock Police Department, a black male wearing a hooded sweatshirt with NY Yankee cap is believed to have passed a bogus check at the Bank of America branch on Rock Road in October. The check, according to Detective James Calaski, was for $9,600 and not written by the unidentified victim.

"The case was brought to us by the victim’s bank since they assumed the loss," he told Patch.
