Police: Intoxicated Man Crashes Into Pole, Flees Scene

A New York man was arrested in relation to Friday night crash on Serafin Pl. in Glen Rock.

A New York man was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence, crashing into a utility pole and fleeing the scene on Friday night,  said Tuesday.

According to Cpt. Jonathan Miller, police received a report at about 11 p.m. Friday that a pickup truck had slammed into a pole on Serafin Place. Upon arrival, Sgt. Dean Ackerman and Ptl. Scott McGovern found an empty truck and located the alleged driver, Elijah DeFreese, 34 of Florida, NY, at a nearby lawn, Miller said.

Suffering from injuries, DeFreese was treated by paramedics and EMS and taken to Hackensack University Medical Center. He was charged with DWI, leaving the scene of an accident and careless driving.
