UPDATE: Power Restoration Target Moved Back to This Weekend
Though progress has been made, the expected date power will be on has been pushed back a week from earlier projections.
Update at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday:
As of 6 a.m. Tuesday, about 20 percent were without power in Ridgewood. It's a much better picture than has been seen lately – on Monday, 66 percent of the town was electricity-free.
Roughly 1,300 of the 2,000 still in the dark should see restoration by the end of Wednesday, PSE&G expects. Full restoration is still expected by Saturday.
All but RHS and Willard schools were still without power as of Tuesday morning.
Despite a 30 percent drop since Monday, 63.8 percent of Glen Rock is still without power, PSE&G claims. Roughly 1,400 are expected to see electricity return on Tuesday in the borough, and another 950 on Wednesday. Only a sprinkling will not have power return by Saturday, according to the work schedule.
Of course, who knows with the storm expected to hit soon.
Check it out for yourself here.

Update 2:23 a.m. Tuesday:
The latest projections show about 500 PSE&G customers in Ridgewood and Glen Rock will be without power until Saturday or later, as restoration timetables continue to be pushed back.
"PSE&G's lack of progress is unconscionable," a dismayed Jeremy Kleiman told Patch Monday night. Kleiman, the Ridgewood OEM coordinator, local officials and residents have expressed anger over the lack of consistency in when power would fully return in the village of more than 25,000.
The utility late last week said it believed there was a solid chance Ridgewood would be fully up by 11:59 p.m. Saturday, and Glen Rock by the end of Monday. Those dates came and went and now another storm on the horizon could upend continuing progress from the state's largest utility.
On Monday morning, about 60 percent of Ridgewood was without power.
The utility expected more than 2,000 to be restored on Monday. (The last work schedule update as of 1:30 a.m. Tuesday was from Monday at 6 a.m.)
A specific number was not available, but areas on the village's East Side did see power today. The area around B.F. and Travell went on late Monday night, residents told Patch.
But almost no progress was reported in the rest of the village, Kleiman told Patch Monday night.
According to PSE&G's work schedule, about 1,500 are expected to be back in the power fold on election day, with roughly 1,200 joining on Wednesday.
Between Thursday and Saturday, a combined 900 customers are expected to see the lights turn on. That leaves nearly 350 households with no target for the power to come back in Ridgewood.
Much of the work is likely to depend on an emerging weather front that could take an ugly turn on Wednesday.
A hazardous weather outlook has been issued for the region. If it strikes, it could seriously hamper restoration efforts.
"A significant coastal storm will likely impact the tri-state region Wednesday and Thursday," the National Weather Service said Monday. "Confidence continues to increase that strong, gusty winds ... rain/wintry precipitation ... coastal flooding and additional beach erosion will result from this system."
The village will be tracking the storm system and making its usualy preparations.
"We have particular concern about the trees that were made vulnerable by Sandy," Kleiman said. "Residents should prepare for the possibility of additional outages and a delay in further restoration."
Much of Glen Rock remains in the dark. A few streets – Jerome, Malvern, the north side of Rock Road, Allen, Hillman went up within the last 24 hours.
Still, the situation remains bleak with 91 percent in the dark, the highest percentage in Bergen County.
Few line repair crews were spotted in the borough on Monday, residents told Patch. Much of the grid had been de-activated to make larger repairs.
PSE&G, on its work schedule, projected about 1,200 of the 4,500 Glen Rock customers in the dark would see restoration on Monday. Another 1,350 on Tuesday; 1,100 on Wednesday; 200 on Thursday; 131 on Friday; and 85 on Saturday were projected to be up and running.
That would leave an estimated 157 customers without power and no clear timetable for restoration.

These numbers are almost meaningless without a map showing where the crews are today and where they expect to be tomorrow.
A breakdown of the areas that will be worked on last would be helpful too. This way we can make informed decisions about where we'll sleep at night with the kids.
How many crews do they even have working in Ridgewood and Glen Rock?
Unfortunately calling PSE&G does not helps in getting this information. Here we are a week later with no power and PSE&G still has no public plan as to the restoration approach.

The world does not revolve around Ridgewood- the utility is working its ass off, and if people would get out of our little cocoon they would see just that.
Slamming PSE&G is futile- go get a generator and relax. Sorry, by any comparison we got through Sandy much better than most of the area.

Here! Here!
I have seen trucks/crews from Kansas, Arkansas and California working out there. This was a BIG storm with ungodly damage and we have to be understanding of that. PLEASE DO NOT VENT YOUR FRUSTRATIONS OUT ON THOSE WORKING ON THE LINES.. Write a letter to the Executives of PSE&G! IF anything THANK the crews. They are the ones doing all the hard work!

Sadly Willard people for want to make sound decisions based on real info from PSEG not empty promises. Some of us don't have a proper place for a generator. For it to be pushed 1entire week tells me that date was never possible. Drive by garden state mall....200+ utility trucks just sitting for 1 whole week.I don't live in Ridgewood. Live in Bergen county.

SB I'm right there with you!!! Midland park Cyphers lane/Hill Street/Erie went out 3pm last Monday and hasn't been back since. My obsession to find info about when we might get power back is paralyzing. If it isn't until Sat...then I'll take my laundry to the wash and fold...and so on.

Willard, you forget that pse&g is a FOR PROFIT company. They're not working hard out of the goodness of their hearts. They are working hard and getting paid nicely to do so. And btw I don't really consider only working 9-5 working extraordinarily hard. We pay for their service and they can't even give a sound Target date. My frustration comes from the lack of honest communication coming from this company who's services we pay for. And also, not everyone has disposable income to "buy a generator" and be quiet. As a paying consumer we have every right to be disgruntled with their service right now.. over 1 week later.

Yeah... a for-profit, heavily regulated utility. The Mayor of Ridgewood, like other Mayors are blaming PSEG... give it a rest.... in times of trouble, you don't play the blame game... save it for later. Solve the problem.... why not blame the Governor or the President? Where's FEMA? Where's our National Guard? Stop blaming PSEG, when this was a storm that made a total mess, took lives, homes and property of so many... you people have no clue what a loss is... if you have the time and ability to sit on the PATCH and complain, life isn't so bad for you. There are many that have it much worse...but I guess you were too busy and self-absorbed to notice anyone else.

FYI, the CEO of PSEG admitted to Wyckoff's Mayor that the company did not think the winds from Sandy would reach 80mph or more. An startling and amazing admission for one of the most pre-planned storms in history. PSEG is culpable for not planning for a worst case scenario.
You obviously have time to respond, guessing the plumbers life has been very good for you.

Joe, you have no idea what my life is so zip your lip. Yes I have it better than others but I don't find myself especially privledged cause I get to go to work and respond to patch via my work desktop while trying to get my insurance company to come survey the damage to my house and get it cleaned up. At least if I had power to heat my basement my two young kids could be warm. Thank god for the people that helped out us out during this storm instead of people like you that say it doesn't matter cause you haven't suffered as bad as someone else.

Good god people. So you're inconvenienced for two weeks by having no tv or internet and, and your heat doesn't work at night. It was a freak'n storm of epic proportions and everyone (including PSE&G) is working hard to get life back to normal. 20 years from now, will it really matter than you didn't have power for a week or two?

Would you like to trade places with him? HIs kids are homeless. He would love to send his kids over to neighbors to keep warm, clean their clothes on their backs... but the problems is, his neighbors are homeless too. Go look at the pictures of Union Beach, Sea Bright, etc. You are clueless, self-centered person.

We Need Longer term to deal with this Fantasy that our story book older Curb trees are a secure asset to the Village./Look at those torn up downed Root balls and Even a novice can see that there is not enough Room for safe footing of most of the older Trees/How many more storms will it take- ive lost count to Cull some of these dangerous Trees at our Curbs.Outsource the task or line up our lawyers- either way the Town and or our Taxes will or won't reflect proper forward management of the Curb trees. The small village stores and shops/the employees and the emergency workers have Been very helpful throughout the last week.Thank You and Well Done.

I may get worse before it gets better after Thursday. Hope this storm is not as bad as it could be. Cold rain and WIND are not our friends at this point. Hang in there, and stay calm. Have been getting updates on EVERYTHING going on in Glen Rock since this started. Thanks for the information, has been very useful. Saw the Mayor walking around neighborhoods the other day handing out information in areas that were smashed as well. What a great effort and leadership that showed. Stay safe.

Rene and James, I have to disagree about the job the Boro is doing. I have seen neither hide nor hair of Hizzoner, in person or online. At least Mayor Aronson of Ridgewood is fighting for his town. Where is Van Kueren? Nothing on the Boro website, no fliers at my house, nothing.
I hang out at my wife's office downtown, thank goodness it has power. Sometimes I see the lines for Exxon - where's the word to residents when it opens? It's a mystery to me, and that is the only place we used to get gas. So much for paying exorbitant taxes and supporting local businesses.

looks as though the people leaving comments to back off the utility companies and "RELAX" either work for PSE&G or have a friend or two who work there. either way, dont tell us to relax and accept the circumstances. we live in America where all of us can have our opinion, rant and rage, and place blame where we want to. after all...this is not socialism...its America! I cant think of a better time to excercise our freedom of speech than on election day!

Hello James!
Are you speaking about Glen Rock's Borough Hall? because Ridgewood seems to be a polarized difference. The Mayor has not walked around the streets communicating with the people at all. if it does pertain to Glen Rock, then I commend him for stepping up and out to the towns people.
James Kleimann
3:16 pm on Tuesday, November 6, 2012
I was referring to Glen Rock and Rene's comment above. Heidi Blauvelt, their communications coordinator, and Joanne Perry, the OEM coordinator, were accessible to residents and made good use of social media/email. I have not independently verified that Mayor van Keuren was walking the streets. But that does certainly sound like him.
Ridgewood Mayor Paul Aronsohn has been in communication with residents from what I've seen. He has spent a good deal of time at the shelter set up at Mount Carmel. The mayor also put out his email and personal cell phone for people to call him, in addition to robo-calls. He could tell you what he's been up to better than I – you could email him at paronsohn@ridgewoodnj.net.

America does indeed give all its citizens the right to talk out their ass. It also gives you the right to place blame where you want to and to rant and rave in absence of the fact that there are hundreds if not thousands of men and women away from their families helping to restore power to our homes- they are most likely tired, cold, and would much rather be at home, wherever that may be.
Instead we have asses like you trying to hide your emotional outbursts inside a civics lesson.
For the record, I don't work for PSE&G or know anyone that does.
Now I will exercise my rights on this fine election day- you should relax and thank your lucky stars you are not one of the poor souls who have lost everything.

I speak for my fellow citizens...Given PSE&G's performance, coupled with our insanely high property taxes and the fact we pay our utility bills in a timely manner, is there any chance they'll issue Bergen County residents a free generator for their troubles? They offer service contracts for the equipment in our homes but why not on their service to our homes?
