RW Planning Board to Examine CBD's Multi-Family Housing Units

Study commissioned as a reaction to the numerous housing proposals that have arisen in recent months

The Ridgewood Planning Board doesn't have much in the way of applications when it meets Tuesday night, but it does have some interesting discussions that should arise.

In the wake of that have been in the downtown in , the board will be discussing the commission of a study regarding multi-family housing units in the Central Business District (CBD).

The developers – who combined propose a total of over 200 new units at three sites – have contended it's unlikely their proposals will bring an influx of family units to Ridgewood's downtown, but several residents and the school board has expressed hesitancy that will be the case.

Additionally, the board is likely to retain a traffic consultant to sit on the planning board, which might be shared with the zoning board, according to one official.

Also on the docket Tuesday is the draft ordinance of the HC Commercial Zone as well as a new look at institutional use regulations, which can affect nursing homes and churches.
