S. Irving Bus Stop to be Relocated for Better Pedestrian Safety
The NJ Transit bus will now stop on the opposite side of the road
The NJ Transit bus stop on the southwest corner South Irving and East Ridgewood Avenue will be relocated to the opposite side of the road, the southeast corner. The Council discussed the change, proposed by the , during Wednesday’s work session.
“The rationale is to prevent disembarking commuters from walking around the front of the bus, where they would be obscured from eastbound traffic until it’s too late for vehicles to stop safely for pedestrians at the crosswalk,” said Mayor Keith Killion, adding that traffic usually grounds to a halt behind the bus.
NJ Transit has reviewed and approved the change, officials said.
