Springsteen Pens Obama Support Message Ahead Of Iowa Performance, Ohio Rally
He says Obama forges the best path to an inclusive and fair America.
NORTH JERSEY -- Bruce Springsteen published a staunch defense of the record and promise of President Obama on Wednesday, a day ahead of a campaign rally in the battleground state of Ohio and a performance at Iowa State University.
Springsteen, who is set to appear at the Ohio rally with former President Clinton, writes that Obama showed "grit, determination and focus" as he faced "extraordinary" opposition and "economic chaos" left behind by the Bush Administration.
"Domestically, that record includes working to increase and expand employment for all, protecting our all important social safety net, passing guaranteed health care for most of our citizens, with important new protections for all of the insured, rescuing the auto industry and so many of the American jobs that go with it, protecting and enhancing the rights of women, and bringing us closer to full acceptance of our gay and lesbian brothers and sisters."
Springsteen also wrote that "anti-citizen" Republican voter suppression efforts are not receiving the attention they deserve.
The Monmouth County resident also came out in support of two "sterling" candidates—Senator Sherrod Brown of Ohio and Elizabeth Warren, who is challenging Republican Senator Scott Brown in Massachusetts.
"Right now, we need a President who has a vision that includes all of our citizens, not just some," Springsteen wrote. "Whether they are our devastated poor, our pressured middle class, and yes, the wealthy too; whether they are male or female, black, white, brown, or yellow, straight or gay, civilian or military."
Springsteen's appearance with Clinton is scheduled for late Thursday morning, while his Ames, Iowa performance is set for 1 p.m. in Hilton Coliseum.

I am curious to see what the democratic party committed to Hillary and the Clintons to take the fall for the Bengazzi fupah that Obama clearly blamed them for. I am not even a fan of theirs, but it is more garbage the Democrats seem to clear off obama. The man does not know political practice on any level. When is the rest of the country going to wake-up? Maybe Bruce Springsteen can shelter some of these welfare recipients at his place. He seems to be so Politcally correct on things. I mean instead of campaign money throw away to a lost cause, how about helping people who really do need it. What a concept for these community organizers.

Bruce springsteen a tax-dodging liberal hypocrite worth over $200 million who pretends to be a farmer to save hundreds of thousands of dollars on his property taxes that would have otherwise funded the welfare programs he pretends to care about. Bruce Springsteen pays over $138,000 a year in taxes for his three-acre home in Colts Neck, New Jersey. He owns another 200 adjoining acres. But because he has a part-time farmer come and grow a few tomatoes (organic, of course) and has horses, his tax bill on the remaining 200 acres is just $4,639 bucks. Do the math. By being a fake farmer, the working-class zero Springsteen is making a mint by robbing New Jersey of the antipoverty program funds he says they desperately need.

W. Bush won Ohio even in his 2'nd term because of the Tea'vangelicals and Conservative Catholic vote and the Democrats have nothing to match those 2 enormous voting blocs; not even the union goons and bosses efforts to drum up their much smaller bloc of voters. The Catholics are none too pleased with the abortion aspects of Obama-Care which the president and his minions lied to Catholics to make it sound harmless to Catholic institutions, charities, etc, etc, . Do you like being blatantly lied, juked and jived tricked and treated with another Obama bridget to nowhere, News Man?

President Romney was SUPERB at the Alfred E. Smith dinner last night. I wasn't surprised at the ease with which he mastered comedy. He is adept in the funny bone realm as with foreign policy, the economy, job creation, etc. One of the many words that come to mind while listening to Mitt Romney speak is "PRESIDENTIAL". One of the many applicable terms for his opponent is "LAME DUCK". ROMNEY/RYAN 2012

I very much enjoy Bruce Springsteins music. However, I wish entertainers would just entertain because I do not care what their personal political views are. I vowed never to go to another one of his concerts after the last one I attended 8 years ago. I spent a lot of money to hear his music but he also included speeches on his political views and who he thinks is good fotrAmerica. He is a great musician but I do not want to pay to hear his political view points.

Then don't go and better yet I don't want to here your insipid uninformed opinions either. Says Dan Grant "and better yet I don't want to here your insipid uninformed opinions either." It's "hear" not "here". Who's uninformed now?
By the way, you're not paying the commenters on here or paying to read the comments, so you can choose or not choose to read them as you like. However, when someone pays for goods/services ( in this case to see a concert) and says they were disappointed in the service/goods (in this case because he blathered on about politics) the only way to voice said disappointment is to refrain from paying for the goods/services again (in this case that would mean he/she won't attend another concert).
Your post was rude.

@Fernande Colette Bitsos - He certainly does. And I don't think that Kay or I ever said that he didn't. Kay said he/she didn't "want to pay to hear his political views." And I said that his Kay's right as a buyer of his goods/services.
If I didn't like the owner of chic-fil-A's stance on gay marriage (I didn't), I could choose not to support him buy not buying his product (incidentally, I never liked his product anyway).
When I don't like the price of merchandise or the customer service in a shop, I no longer shop there.
It's really all the same thing. Say and feel however you'd like, but some people will respond by choose a different concert or album or fast food restaurant or shop etc etc etc.
Someone exercising their freedom of speech does not mean that I have to pay listen.
Incidentally, I only like 2-3 of his songs.

The point YOU are missing is, we live in a country where anyone can stand up and say or talk about what he/she believes in...Including YOURSELF..If you don't like his music, simple don't listen to it, if you don't like his views again don't listen to them..But he does have the right to say what he feels. Let's see - our chief executive is for the '99 percenters' yet it is he who is in bed with the Hollywood and NYC extremist '1 percent ' elite: Springsteen, Bon Jovi, George Soros, George Clooney (whom he attended a $40K PER PLATE fundraiser this past June), Anne Wintour, Sarah Jessica Parker/Matt Borderick ($10K a plate fundraiser in July at their NYC home), Jay-Z and Beyonce (same type of fundraiser in NYC in August) etc etc etc. The real 'middle class' huh? At least Romney doesn't BS around that he has money and isn't a hypocrite.
Our current president took a bad situation and made it worse. If he was a CEO of a Fortune 500 Company or the GM/Manager of a professional sports team - no matter how bad his predecessor was - he would be FIRED. Case closed.
With the ongoing economic disaster not only here but abroad (Greece, Spain, Italy, France) and Mr. Obama's socialist/high taxation/redistribution policies/rhetoric you would think this would give the President some pause. But then you would be guilty of thinking that his mind is open.
Wise up America - HOPE is not a policy. Our current Chief Executive is a hypocrite, liar (Libya), charlatan and fraud that hoodwinked this Nation in 2008. Not this time around though.

When the Chick-Fil-A executive expressed his views, in response to a question posed by a reporter, there was an outcry and many responded by saying they would no longer eat there. Obama is such a 2-faced goober. He keeps asking for economic plans from Mitt that Romney lists his "5" every time they debate and just how many plans does Obama offer the voters in these debates? How about mostly....... none? The Dems cover-up and total confusion concerning Benghazi will be Obama and his party's Waterloo.

Well, more rational, mannered discourse from Uncle Sam. Obama doesn't know who his father is? Assuming that would be a reason for critcizing somebody (it is not) it surprises me to hear that is now the assertion from those who I thought knew all too clearly who his communistic African father was. Oh, naked pictures of his mother are on the internet? Well, whether that is true or not, not sure why somebody who wasn't born or would have been a child when they were posted should be faulted for something that must have been terribly embarassing to him. But lets be vicious and blame a child for the mistakes of his parents. Finally, has the debt gone up under Obama? What was it when Clinton left office? Does it really surprise anybody that the disaster wrought by Bush wasn't done unfolding during Obama's first term? But let me make clear that I agree the deficit should be reduced and it should be a priority to do so. So maybe the ultra rich who have profited hugely from this downturn should actually have to pay the taxes they were paying under Clinton when this economy was humming along and not be given yet another tax break. BTW, how can anybody believe that a tax break for the rich is going to stimulate this economy? As Mittens would say, there is a record to look at, the rich were given huge tax breaks as this economy tanked.

The fact that a hate-mongering, pea-brained, red-neck, vile & vicious loudmouth such as this "Uncle Sam" jackass (no relative of mine or of the original Uncle Sam, I promise you) actually lives near me is very scary. He should either be "survivaling" in the hills of Idaho, or under careful observation in a hospital. And if he strongly believes in what he says, why hide behind a pseudonym? Where is teen pregancy most rampant, education poorest etc. etc. etc.? -same story. But lets not look at reality, lets go read Ayn Rand and feel that superiority that the facts don't warrant. You all sit around and throw insults back and forth I don't see how this solves anything! The idea that our country cannot survive the way it is being lead is true. Think of our economy as a house the foundation being our low income ( cashiers, stockers, janitors all unskilled labor jobs). Without the foundation what happens to the house? It sinks in the mud. That is what is going to happen to our economy if we continue to under pay and over work our low income. When they have no or costly health insurance and two to three part time jobs and still unable to pay their bills. We are heading to the biggest boston tea party in American history. How long do you think they are going to allow politians and big business to walk all over them. With the age of twitter and face book they can communicate and organize. Image what would happen if all of the low income workers called in sick for two days they would lose $40-$80 dollars a day while companys would lose billions. Put that in your pipe and smoke it. Those of you who use the word "socialism" absolutely, positively have no grasp of its definition and meaning. You sound like you live in the midst of the Cold War with "them big bad Russians going to come take our freedoms". Look at the definitions. Look at the facts (i.e. corporate profits higher now than ever before) and get back to me. If you look at the history of this country, radicals (on the left or right) don't get elected. It's the people in the middle. You only spew words like "socialism" and "communism" because you were raised to think those things are bad, without knowing their meaning or how they apply or play-out in real life.

He's had a planet-sized chip on his shoulder for America since he was a little boy. He cut his teeth on radicalism and couldn't care less about "America". Case in point: where was our beloved leader when tens of thousands of BARRELS per day of oil were pouring into the Gulf of Mexico in 2010? He did nothing...absolutely nothing. But when the ground shook in Haiti, he jumped right up out of his chair and pledged 100 million dollars in aid, for starters. He was not elected president of Haiti or emperor of the world. He has failed miserably. That fact should make us all sad, but now is the time to fire him, not weep for his trampled emotions.

You people are disgusting. I've lived in Basking Ridge for most of my life, and I am now in college (we are the only developed country in the world that makes you pay 20k+ a year to go to college and doesn't have free universal healthcare), and in order for me and millions others like me to vote we need early voting, it is not a liberal conspiracy. My father was a successful Wall Streeter just like many of you, and lost his job in the recession, and had to work for $8.50 an hour in the middle of the night stocking the shelves in Stop and Shop so you idiots who've never done a hard day of work can buy your food. Imagine how that would effect you if you were in that position! The president is not a Muslim and even if he was, does that really matter any more than Kennedy being a Catholic? You're a bunch of bigots who think you're going to go to heaven because you go to Church on Sunday and put $50 in the basket, but when someone of another religion or culture wants the same thing for their family you criticize it? Why? Catholics were persecuted too and still are in some parts of this country! I hope you all realize that Romney is going to destroy the middle class, even the upper middle class will be gone, sure it has withered under Obama but there is only so much he can do when our excess spending capacity was squandered by the Bush and Reagan dynasty. We need to take a hard look at our country and where it is going, the people are being squashed and disregarded by both sides

Thomas, is it ok that people on this comment board persecute Mitt Romney for being a Mormon? While I feel sorry that your father lost his job, you make ridiculous generalizations of people on the right and Catholics. But putting that aside, what has Obama done the last 4 years that give you encouragement for the next 4 years? Class warfare? I have yet to hear a plan and I think that is the main reason why people are switching their support. All I have heard in the debates is that Obama's plan for improving the economy is to improve the economy. The only way this country will re-build is through energy independence and the return of manufacturing.

Now, no conservative begrudges anyone—not even a die-hard Obama Zombie like Bruce Springsteen—from lowering their tax burden by taking full advantage of every tax break available to them. That’s legal and fine. But for a guy who makes hundreds of millions pretending to be a guardian of the working class, and who vocally supports Obama’s attempts to tax the rich at higher rates, to then turn around and utilize obscure tax loopholes to pocket hundreds of thousands of dollars that would otherwise go to his beloved social programs . . . well, that’s just flat-out Hollywood hypocrisy.

WE have made Springsteen rich by buying the concert tickets and music. WE have made "celebrities" rich by buying the movie tickets. I did not buy their views on anything political or ANYTHING at all. We can always reverse our errors by not going to anymore of his concerts or going to the movies. I know that won't happen, but its a thought!! And really?...He can't sing, lets be honest. Good lyrics, but I miss Clarence. And one more point, a comment was made regarding what a terrible president Carter was. He was, but he was also too honest and too good of a man to be president. He is, however, a wonderful Statesman. OK, ready, set, GO...SLAM ME. I've lived in Jersey long enough to take it.

Yes Nancy, I do feel anger and also disappointment. Anger that there are so many people that do not know what is happening and disappointment that they do not care enough about preserving our freedoms and our Republic. So many brave individuals have fought and given their lives so that we at home in USA could be safe. I do understand that tunnel vision is part of the cause. People are concerned with their jobs, their families and commitments, and personal interests. Until about 6 years ago I was in the same boat. I believed that our government and elected officials would be doing what was right for the American people. Then I woke up from my slumber. I want other people to wake up also. I started to investigate things with an open mind.
I read....compared various media, followed the history of elected officials, studied their policies, compared news reports on various tv channels and printed media. I attended political campaigns, went to Washington, Trenton...many times.. attended lectures, investigated legislature and followed who introduced it and how our elected officials voted on it. I became informed. I also did many of the same things on the international front and compared them to see how things were connected. We as a country are in terrible shape and it is due to people in both parties and to those that want the distruction of our currency, free enterpise, our religion and our Nation.

Will Mitt Get Your Kids Killed?
Former chief of Israel’s intelligence service Mossad, Efraim Halevy, on Mitt Romney in an interview with Laura Rozen … Obama has placed emphasis on negotiations. In this current election for the US presidency, his hands are tied. He cannot proceed, because he cannot appear soft on Israel’s security.
Negotiating with Iran is perceived as a sign of beginning to forsake Israel. That is where I think the basic difference is between Romney and Obama. What Romney is doing is mortally destroying any chance of a resolution without war. Therefore when [he recently] said, he doesn’t think there should be a war with Iran, this does not ring true. It is not consistent with other things he has said.
Sir
2:52 pm on Monday, October 22, 2012
Negotiating with Iran? Obama has bent over for Iran and also Syria, Russia and China has well. Obama wants to cut military spending....does he not realize a strong military is what keeps our country (and the world) safe? I would disarm Iran immediately upon taking office. They have until February 1 to let inspectors in and if we find any sign of them making the bomb, they are finished.

Stew - you are running from the issue, which is typical of a liberal. The issue is whether obama and biden knew what was happening in Libya. If they did, they should come clean and stop lying to the american people. As far as Iran goes, the economic sancations as you have pointed out has left Iran's economy in tatters. That may be true, but they are closer today to the bomb today than they were four years ago. The sancations are hurting the people of the country - their goverment and military do not care about their people. Get your facts straight. Iran comes clean or they face military consequences. They do not fear the US because of Obamas tip toeing around tough issues. If we don't do it I am hoping Israel does it.

On the same token, Bruce Springsteen does not have to stop singing about the working class just because he made it big time. He is a self made man. Nothing was given to him. He worked his way up from nothing. Making it to the top does not mean that you forget where you came from or what others still endure.
