On Friday, June 8, children in grades 3, 4 and 5 will enjoy a special visit by Meteorologist Dr. Bill Evans, who will be sharing his new book, “It’s Raining Fish and Spiders.”
A member of WABC-TV in New York since December 1989, Evans is the senior meteorologist for Eyewitness News in the morning and Eyewitness at Noon. A five-time Emmy award winner for Outstanding On-Camera Achievement in Weather Broadcasting, Evans also broadcasts the weather with "Scott and Todd in the Morning" and throughout the day on 95.5FM WPLJ Radio.
During his visit, Evans will share highlights from the book including his most exciting personal weather stories: flying with the Hurricane Hunters, riding pell-mell through Tornado Alley with storm chasers, and visiting the coldest place on earth.
This book for elementary and early middle school-age children covers everything from tornadoes and hurricanes to lightning and the different kinds of snowflakes. Evans addresses weather myths and facts, from “Can it really rain fish?” to “Will opening a window save my house during a tornado?”
