Wednesday: Village Finalizes the Budget Tonight

The municipal tax levy will be set tonight

1) The village council will pass its municipal budget on Wednesday night, which will raise taxes anywhere from 5 to 7 percent. Any Ridgewood taxpayer who wants to offer their final comments should go to the Sydney Stoldt Court Room in Village Hall at 7:30p.m.

2) Feeling peckish? The library will host its annual English as a Second Language Center International Luncheon in the Belcher auditorium today at noon. Students from over thirty different countries will bring traditional foods and treat their tutors to a taste of their native origins.

3) Get excited for J Mart, a Japanese grocery store that will open at the currently vacant 44 Chestnut St. According to their poster, they will sell sushi and healthy food, and are looking for bilingual Japanese/English team players with self-motivation. College students still looking for a summer job should email jmartcs@gmail.com.

4) Former World Boxing Council World Champion Sugar Ray Leonard will be signing copies of his book The Big Fight, a story of his life “in and out of the ring,” at 7:00 p.m. at Bookends.

5) Ridgewood is heating up. Tomorrow will hit 95 degrees by 3p.m., but we’ll have a few clouds in the sky and a small, 8 mph breeze to relieve us from the heat. We can’t shake that New Jersey humidity though, with an index at 52 percent it’ll feel like 99 degrees.
