After all the politics and money issues, one fact still remains and that is the dogs of BASS in Bloomingdale still need homes. After negotiations with the town of Bloomingdale did not work out and operating for six years without a contract, B.A.S.S. is no longer at the shelter on Brandt Lane Bloomingdale and all the animals there had to leave the facility in February 2012. So what happened to all the animals there? The cats were placed in foster homes and the dogs are being kenneled.
In the end I really do not care about the politics and power plays that go on behind the scenes of these situations, I feel for the poor animals that were displaced after all they are in a shelter because someone did not "want" them once before and now they were moved again! Has anyone besides the BASS people thought about the animals, their welfare and how they need our help? Have they thought about how all this has affected them? I want to focus on helping the dogs that have been left behind to get them their forever homes where they are welcome and happy! Pictured are a few of the dogs that are still available with B.A.S.S.
B.A.S.S. is still functioning and will continue on their mission to save lives. They are currently holding adoptions at Petsmart in Wayne on Friday and Saturdays for cats and Sundays for dogs. Anyone interested in adopting a B.A.S.S. dog should e-mail bass@bassshelterpets.org or call 973-838-2220 and leave a message.
You could also go to their website www.bassshelterpets.org and fill out a pre-adopt form. The following are just a few of the dogs at B.A.S.S.
Artie is a Lab/Shiba Inu Mix. Young adult male, super cute, medium sized about 30 lbs and very enthusiastic. Would do best in a home with older children and no other dogs.
Dasher is a Bordie Collie Mix about 2-3 year old male about 45 lbs with lots of energy. He is very friendly and playful. He loves a good scratch and playing outside in the yard. He is well behaved on a leash. Just a love!
Boomer is about a year old. He is very affectionate, loves to snuggle. He spent most of his early life outside so he will need to go to a home to an experienced dog owner willing to give him the training he needs. Boomer ia energetic and has is a character and sure to make you smile!
Leo is a male Shi Tzu about 6 yrs old and weighs about 12 lbs. Leo would do best in an all adult home that knows understands and appreciates the breed.

This is so heart-breaking. We have two dogs now and can't take in another. But when the time does come, we'll definitely adopt. Dogs are the best! I hope they all find suitable homes.

I will be re-posting this on my business page, and facebook - every little bit of spreading the word helps. You never know where the next angel may be hiding, themselves just waiting to be rescued by the unconditional love of an animal.

Where will you be at Preakness? We are experienced Border collie owners and just lost our oldest one. She was 14 and succumbed to cancer.

He's been shown all around Spa23. My colleagues were there for me when we lost Dharma. Don't know who is more excited, them, me or my kids.
