Career/Self Assessment and the Job Search

As a job search trainer and coach, I’ve been blogging about job search tips for over a year. Like preparing for a cross-country trip where you’ll need a map or GPS, planning a career search needs a compass too and the first step is career and self assessment. It’s only after identifying your strengths, weaknesses, career/personal values, personality and skill set that you can prepare your resume, interview, network and develop your social presence.  These are some of the topics that I’d like to share with you on Patch.

Please take a look at the resources on my website. There is a list of various tools and assessments that will allow you to measure and evaluate yourself. They are a first step in your job search and if answered honestly, can give you an idea of the direction you may or may not want to follow. They will also allow you to identify your strengths (think resume).  These tools are good for the 18 year old and the 78 year old and everyone in between. Focusing on you is the first step in your career planning.

If you have any specific job search questions, please let me know and we can talk about them here on Patch.
