Ridgewood Concert Band Season Ends on High Note

The Ridgewood Concert Band will present the final concert of their season at 8:00pm on May 11th at West Side Presbyterian Church. The band is proud to share the stage with local musicians for this concert including jazz guitarist Bucky Pizzarelli, the Youth Soloist Contest winner Dana Nix and some of the finest high school musicians from the area.
Bucky Pizzarelli has had a stellar career for more than six decades. Bucky, a native of New Jersey, was a member of the Doc Severinsen band on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson, toured with Benny Goodman and performed for presidents. He will be joining the band to perform A Salute to Benny Goodman and other familiar jazz standards.
Also performing is the Ridgewood Concert Band Youth Soloist Contest winner flutist Dana Nix, a high school student from Parsippany. Ms. Nix will be performing a movement from the Poulenc Sonata for Flute. In October, Ms. Nix will representing her country in the prestigious Marine Corps Band.
This concert will also be the fourth annual Side-by-Side Concert in which the finest high school musicians from the area will perform with the Ridgewood Concert Band.
The Ridgewood Concert Band Program highlights will include familiar songs from Andrew Lloyd Webber's Phantom of the Opera, Irish Tune (Danny Boy) by Percy Grainger and El Capitan by John Philip Sousa.

More About West Side Presbyterian Church
The West Side Presbyterian Church traces its history back to 1912. The church had 68 charter members and shared a pastor with First Presbyterian Church of Ridgewood. The original church was known as "The West Side Collegiate Church." West Side's first services were held at Ridgewood's Parsons School.
The church has a strong musical and arts tradition. It has various Christian educational programs for children and adults, as well as music programs, a nursery school and various fellowship groups. The church’s current pastor is Dr. Gareth Icenogle.
