RIDGEWOOD TOASTMASTER EARNS PRESTIGIOUS HONOR
Ridgewood Toastmasters announced that Mary Ackaway has been named Toastmaster of the Year. The award was given to Mary because of her willingness to volunteer and organize events during the year.
“It is a very special honor to be named Toastmaster of the Year,” said Ackaway. “I accept the award on behalf of all Ridgewood Toastmaster members and I encourage more people to benefit from the great opportunities at Toastmasters.”
Ackaway, who lived in Ridgewood for 23 years, has been a member of Toastmasters for two years and named best speaker, and best evaluator of the evening many times. She has also competed in regional speech contests.

An interior designer for many years, Ackaway used her business background, leadership skills and experience she gained from her Toastmasters membership to transition to a career in the commercial lending department at Columbia Bank.
Ridgewood Toastmasters was founded in May 1958. Since then it has grown and changed over the years. The club meets on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 7:30 pm at the Unitarian Society Fellowship room in Ridgewood, New Jersey. It is a warm and welcoming environment where its members can practice speaking and leadership at their own pace.
