WOMAN'S CLUB OF RIDGEWOOD AND THE 4TH OF JULY PARADE

In the early years of its foundation in 1910, The Woman’s Club and the Ridgewood Fire Department joined forces to create a "safe and sane " holiday with an emphasis on Patriotism! The day began with a parade with marching bands, antique cars, horse drawn floats and many fire trucks. The day concluded with fireworks and a dance in Van Neste Park.

Not much has changed after 100 years. The tradition of The Ridgewood 4th of July Parade and Fireworks carry on successfully every year. Albeit the floats have become more elaborate and horse drawn carriages are now a novelty,  Ridgewood continues to have the best marching bands, antique cars, fire truck bonanza and amazing participation by communities around us.

This year once again the Woman’s Club of Ridgewood was part of the parade. Current co-presidents Anita Srivastava and Theresa Gregorio along with Club members Gretta O’Brien, Andrea Falco, Mary Ann Aman, Hope Diggs, Suzan Campbell, Elizabeth Jastrzebska, and Andrea Rademacher. rode on an antique Chevrolet.  The Woman’s Club of Ridgewood also opened its clubhouse in the morning as a service to the community who are always in need of restrooms or just want to come into the clubhouse to cool down on what always seems to be the hottest day of the year. Fresh brewed  lemonade was also available at the clubhouse to help visitors cool off before the parade proceeded down Ridgewood Avenue to the grandstands.
