International Wheelchair Racers Hit Ridgewood Run Monday

Annual Memorial Day event in Ridgewood is celebrating its 39th year.

For the 14th Memorial Day in a row, wheelchair racers will be in Ridgewood this Monday.

The Annual Kessler Foundation Wheelchair 10K is set to take off at 8:15 a.m. Monday at the Fred D'Elia Ridgewood Run, the Foundation announced last week. During the event, wheelchair racers from around the world compete in different age divisions.

Returning racers include Spain’s Santiago Sanz—he four time champion in the Quad Men’s division—Costa Rica’s Laurens Molina—last year’s Men’s Open division winner—and Ramiro Bermudez—the 2013 Male Masters champion from Texas. Members of North Jersey Navigators—an adaptive sports team, based in Jersey City, for junior athletes with disabilities—including last year’s Male Junior division winner Jerson Calderon, are also competing.

The Ridgewood Run is now in its 39th year. The family-friendly day includes a 10K, 5K, and family fun run. Get more information here.
