Lake Avenue Bridge Reopened

Popular route between Ridgewood and Midland Park was closed for over a year.

Lake Avenue in Midland Park reopened to traffic this week after more than a year of construction to replace a bridge on the roadway, the Midland Park Press reported Thursday.

While the bridge is located in Midland Park, the roadway is a popular route for Ridgewood residents from Godwin Avenue to Goffle Road and Rt. 208.

The $1.37 million replacement of the bridge, which had been deemed structurally deficient after a century of use, upped the tonnage the road can handle, according to the report.

Construction of the bridge commenced in August 2012 with an expected closure of nine months, but faced significant delays in part due to Hurricane Sandy.
