Ridgewood Featured on My9's 'Chasing New Jersey'

Chasing New Jersey, the non-traditional 10 o’clock newscast on My9, recently featured Ridgewood as a community worth sharing with its tri-state viewers.

In a two-part video segment on the village that aired last Thursday, My9 “Chaser” Bill Spadea interviews Mayor Paul Aronsohn and highlights various aspects of the community, including its downtown shopping district.

“We wanted to take a unique look inside place most people don’t get to see,” Spadea told Patch of why the show’s producers chose to feature Ridgewood.

“We were initially attracted to Ridgewood because the Mayor and council did the most pre-Super Bowl festivities and activities of any town we could find. When many reports were negative about the Super Bowl coming to New Jersey but the attention all going to New York, Ridgewood really celebrated idea of having it in New Jersey.”

In addition to talking about his view of the big game in the Garden State, Aronsohn also discussed the current economic condition in town, the downtown area, and his view on the “Bridgegate” scandal.

“We are a very new presentation of the news,” Spadea said of Chasing New Jersey, which premiered last July, replacing the channel’s traditional 10 o’clock newscast.

“The whole point of it is to really bring the viewer more into the story,” he said.

“I love it. It’s fun, it moves fast, and it’s our hope to start to open up to a younger demographic.”
