Woman Getting Mani-Pedi Gives Birth at North Jersey Salon

Woman's nails weren't even dry when she went into labor at a Glen Rock salon last week, report says.

A Glen Rock salon turned into a delivery room last week when a pregnant woman went in for a relaxing mani-pedi, and came out with her newborn son.

According to a NorthJersey.com report, Anna Rubinstein, a regular customer at Eden Nails on Prospect Street in Glen Rock, was already in labor when she arrived at the salon for a manicure, pedicure, and foot massage Wednesday afternoon around 3 p.m.

Storeowner Nancy Wang told the paper that the woman thought she had plenty of time for the treatments, since she had been in labor for 44 hours when her daughter was born three years ago. However, this baby had a different plan in mind.

Before Rubinstein’s nails were dry, she went to the bathroom and her water broke, the report said.

As employees called an ambulance and the woman’s husband, another customer in the salon, a nurse, helped deliver the baby on the bathroom floor, the report said.
