Film Festival Offers Uplifting Story

"Blood Brothers" screens at 7:30 p.m Friday.

With the Ridgewood Library's annual Reel Voices Film Festival drawing to a close, its most positive story will be set to the screen Friday night.

Among films curated for their power to convey social issues, Blood Brother tells the uplifting story of director Steve Hoover's friend "Rocky," who treks to India to start his life from scratch in India.

Having grown up without many family connections in the United States, Rocky forms bonds with the children at an orphanage for those infected with HIV.

Unlike many of the films in the library's documentary series, the festival's director, Roberta Panjwani, said Blood Brother could be appropriate for all ages, including younger students.

Tickets for the 7:30 p.m. showing on Friday, Nov. 15 are $5.
