The Friends of the Library kick off the Summer Reading Program with a free children's concert presented on the Library's front lawn by the Glen Rock Pops, with Music Director Sean Ryan. This performance on Mondy evening, June 25 at 7:15pm, is an opportunity for children to experience the colorful sight and sound of an orchestra. Admission is free and those planning to come are asked to bring lawn chairs and blankets. Additional parking is available at Central School.

Children's Librarian Trisha Fishelman hopes that parents will take advantage of this chance to introduce children of all ages to the musical art form on an informal level and on their own turf. The one-hour performance will have narrative throughout. The selections for the evening include music following the theme of this year's Summer Reading Program: "Dream Big READ!"

After the performance families can visit with orchestra members. The up close "hearing and seeing" will demonstrate to the young attendees the music produced by a particular instrument, how the instrument relates to the orchestra, and the skill and technique needed to produce that sound.

The program is generously underwritten by Boiling Springs Savings Bank of Glen Rock. The rain date is scheduled for Tuesday evening, June 26 at 7:15pm. If it rains on that day, the concert will be held indoors in the Central School. auditorium.
