Porch Light, GRHS Unveil 'Forum' Musical for Spring

Student-starred production "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum" kicks off on Feb. 7 at Glen Rock High School

The following release was sent by Porch Light Theatre in Glen Rock.

Glen Rock High School will present it's 2012 Spring musical, "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum," Thursday and Friday, February 7 and 8 at 7:30PM and Saturday, February 9 at 1:30PM and 7:30PM. A preview performance will also be held on Wednesday, February 6 at 1PM (free to senior citizens).

Broadway's greatest farce is light, fast-paced, witty, irreverent and one of the funniest musicals ever written.

Forum takes comedy back to its roots, combining situations from time-tested, 2000 year old comedies of Roman playwright Plautus with the infectious energy of classic vaudeville. Pseudolus, a crafty slave, struggles to win the hand of a beautiful but slow-witted courtesan named Philia, for his young master, Hero, in exchange for freedom.

The plot twists and turns with cases of mistaken identity, slamming doors, and a showgirl or two.

Directed by Ryan Pifher, Artistic Director of Porch Light Theatre in Glen Rock, with musical direction by Jon Provan and choreography by Nicole DiMattei, the hilarious musical comedy stars GRHS students in 9th through 12th grade.

Tickets may be purchased in advance at the high school's Hamilton Lobby on Tuesday, January 29, 11AM-1:30PM, Wednesday, January 30, 11AM-1:30PM & 7-8:30PM, Thursday, January 31, 11AM-1:30PM and Friday, February 5, 11AM-1:30PM.

Tickets will also be available at the door 30 minutes prior to showtime at each performance. $15 for adults and $10 for students & senior citizens. A special price of $5 will be offered to Glen Rock Middle School students at the Saturday matinee performance. For ticket information, please call Kathy at (201) 652-1261 or email grhsforumtix@gmail.com
