Porch Light Theatre in Glen Rock kicks off 2014 this month with an adaptation of the Off-Broadway musical and soon-to-be Hollywood production “The Last Five Years.”
Porch Light, known for its youth programs as well as its professional productions, will be bringing in professional New York City-based actors Jamal Crowelle and Samantha Matthews, who previously starred in the musical adaptation of Beauty and the Beast, to star in the show.
More than a decade after making its Off-Broadway debut, a film version is in the works, to be directed by Water for Elephantsscreenwriter Richard LaGravenese.
Tickets for the show, running from Jan. 10-18, are $25 for adults and $22 for students and seniors. Shows slated for the rest of the year include "Peter Pan: The Musical" and "Rent."
Here’s what the theater had to say about the show:
The Last Five Years tells the emotional powerful story of two twenty-something New Yorkers who dive head first into a marriage fueled by the optimism that comes with finding “the one.”
But in a city where professional and personal passions collide and only the strongest relationships survive, navigating the waters of love and matrimony can sometimes prove too much.
Funny, honest, and intimate, with an exuberantly romantic score,The Last Five Years takes a bold look at one young couple’s hope that love endures the test of time.
