Ridgewood Choral Seeks Talented Teens for Music Scholarship

Scholarship is open to high school seniors in Bergen, Passaic, Essex and Rockland County. Deadline to apply is Feb. 14.

The following was submitted to Patch by the Ridgewood Choral.

Auditions for the Ridgewood Choral’s Florence Reinauer Memorial Music Award of $2,500 will be held on Saturday, March 1 from 8:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. at the Unitarian Society of Ridgewood, 113 Cottage Place.

Since 1967 The Ridgewood Choral has presented the Florence Reinauer Memorial Music Award to a musically talented teen. Over $25,000 in scholarships has been awarded to high school seniors in recognition of excellence in vocal or instrumental performance.

The auditions are open to high school seniors in Bergen, Passaic, Essex, or Rockland County, who are interested in continuing formal education in voice or instrument at a school of higher learning in voice or instrument.  Applicants must provide their own accompanist, if needed.

To apply, go to www.Ridgewoodchoral.org and fill out an application form completely online.  The application deadline is February 14, 2014. Applications received after that date will not be accepted.

Applicants chosen to audition will be notified by e-mail and receive an audition time. Applicants should be prepared to perform two or three brief selections of no more than ten minutes total which demonstrate their musical ability and versatility. 

The scholarship recipient will be the guest soloist at the Choral’s spring Concert on Friday, April 11, 2014 at 8:00 p.m. at the West Side Presbyterian Church in Ridgewood.
