Ridgewood dance company Art of Motion makes its debut in the Booking Dance Festival Friday night at Lincoln Center.
Art of Motion’s professional troupe will present excerpts from its original show “Heaven and Earth,” described by artistic director and founder Lynn Needle as a fusion of dance styles from jazz and Broadway to acrobatics and classical techniques.
“It’s a work about nature and creation, the world around us and how it came to be,” she said.
The company, which has a studio offering both professional and youth training, was “discovered” at a showcase last year in New York, prompting their invitation back to the larger Lincoln Center stage.
Art of Motion celebrates its tenth anniversary in Ridgewood this month with a “soiree” and cabaret performance at its Chestnut Street location.
The festival runs from 5:30 to 11:30 p.m. Friday night, and Art of Motion is scheduled to go on at 8 p.m. Tickets for the show start at $25, and can be purchased here.
