Ridgewood Teacher, Author Signing Children's Book at Bookends

Ridgewood High School teacher Louisa Luisi will be signing copies of her new children's novel Your Best Coaches on Saturday, Dec. 22 at Bookends.

Luisi, a playwright who teaches English and drama at RHS, had the ambitious plan to write a children's story exploring parental values through the game of baseball.

She received enough funding through Kickstarter to publish the book, which was illustrated by artist Kika Esteves.

"It's really important to talk to kids about being thrown a curve," said Luisi in July. "I think we live in a society where a lot of young kids and teenagers expect a lot and then they don't know how to deal with things when they are thrown a curve."

Luisi will be signing copies at 1 p.m.
