Event will showcase and recognize high school musicians.

The following was submitted to Patch by the Ridgewood High School Bands.

On Thursday, June 5, the Ridgewood High School Bands will present their annual  “Tunes in June” concert.  The concert, which will be held at the Kasschau Memorial Band Shell at Veterans Field in Ridgewood, begins at 8:00 PM and admission is free.

This concert will feature the school’s three curricular bands - the Symphonic Band, Concert Band, and Wind Ensemble – performing a wide array of light and popular selections, along with solo performances featuring some of the band’s outstanding senior musicians. The concert will also be a time for the band to recognize its 35 graduating seniors.

The concert kicks off a summer of free performances at the Shell. See the full schedule here. Attendees are asked to bring a chair or blanket.

The Ridgewood High School Band Program is Bergen County's largest, comprised of more than 230 students who participate in no fewer than 15 varied musical ensembles.  The curricular bands, marching band, jazz ensembles, chamber ensembles, winter color guard and twirlers have been acclaimed locally, regionally, and nationally for superior performance.

Individually, members of the Ridgewood High School Bands are chosen annually to perform in honor ensembles at the county, regional, and state levels.

The bands highlighted the accomplishments of several students:

  • Victoria Chung, oboe, is a student of Richard Dallessio and previously studied with Kyungmi Bae. Victoria is a member of the Wind Ensemble at RHS and a current student of the Juilliard Pre-college Program.
