Two disparate acts are coming together for the next installment of the Ridgewood Unitarian Society’s Café Concert Series.

Headlining the Saturday show is Professor Louie and the Crowmatix, a Woodstock, NY-based blues act with ties to The Band.

The group’s roots formed in studio work with the legendary rock band, and they went on to provide backing on solo records for members Rick Danko, Levon Helm and Garth Hudson.

On their own, they’ve appeared on various television and independent radio shows and toured internationally, playing upwards of 150 shows a year.

Opening the Saturday evening concert will be Caroline Pennell, a Saddle River resident and finalist on the NBC reality show “The Voice.”

The 17-year-old Ramsey High School senior spent two months belting chart toppers on the TV competition, coming home after advancing to the final round in late November.

Tickets for the show are $20 in advance and $25 the night of the show, and include wine and dessert. Doors open an hour before the 8 p.m. concert.
