Lettuce Inn, Lettuce Out?

It appears as though the sandwich/salad shop on Chestnut Street in Ridgewood has closed.

On a rainy Tuesday afternoon in October, the doors at 26 Chestnut Street are closed. The chairs are up and the lights are out.

A few days ago, a sign on the door said Lettuce Inn was closed for vacation. The sign is gone now, and from the looks of it the small sandwich and salad shop has closed up for good.

Sources said the business, which opened in the spring, has been closed for about two weeks and won't be reopening.

No one picked up the phone at the Ridgewood store and an owner could not be reached for comment.

A Saladworks is scheduled to open up across the street in November to fill the salad void.

The soon-to-come salad shop will have an interactive allergen menu, a widget that allows customers to plug in what they're allergic to avoid certain menu items.
