Review: 'Often Superb Food' at Pearl Restaurant, but Inconsistent

Upscale New American restaurant at 17 South Broad Street in Ridgewood received a two-star rating in a Record food review.

The Record's food reviewer, Elisa Ung, found there were a lot of high points during her trips to Pearl Restaurant in Ridgewood, but found there were some kinks that needed to be worked out.

Ung's review, published Friday, lauded the appetizers and homemade desserts at the upscale eatery, but found inconsistencies with some entrees. She gave a thumbs-up to the three-course prix fixe menu, priced at $24.95 on weekdays. Service was also inconsistent, she reported.

Some recommended dishes, per the review, are potato pancakes with spinach and goat cheese, mussels with andouille sausage and white beans, red snapper.
