Ridgewood Children's Consignment Shop Folds

Demands of motherhood force closure of Taralynn's Closet.

Finding a niche within the high-end children's clothing market, Jessica Burns opened her consignment shop in Ridgewood last spring. But motherhood had other plans – Taralynn's Closet has shut down.

Burns left for maternity leave in mid-October and gave birth in November, she told Patch in an e-mail. All the while, staff members battled various illnesses and personal tragedies. Running the shop by herself while caring for a son – who was born premature – would have been too much, she said.

Burns said she's currently working to settle all accounts with consignors. There's no word on what business will replace Taralynn's Closet at 10 S. Maple.
