'Upscale Resale' Store Coming to Ridgewood Ave. Next Week

Second Time Around is opening its 47th nationwide story in Ridgewood just before the Thanksgiving shopping kickoff.

There’s already plenty of new fashion stores downtown for the approaching holiday shopping season in Ridgewood, but the village is set to add yet another next week.

Second Time Around, a consignment shop describing itself as “upscale retail” with locations around the region, announced Thursday the opening of a Ridgewood Avenue store at the former location of Cardventure.

“We know our brand of high end consignment will fit in perfectly with the fashionable Ridgewood shopper and look forward to being part of the community,” CEO Bill Soncini said in the announcement.

The store will be the company’s sixth in New Jersey, and 47th nationwide.

Second Time Around started its first store 40 years ago outside Boston. It offers consignments by appointment, reselling new and lightly worn designer clothing for 65-70 percent of the original retail price, according to the company.

The store will immediately be scheduling consignments of winter clothing, with appointments available by calling 201-857-4085. The clothes are placed on sale for 90 days, and if purchased, consigners receive 40 percent of the sale.

The store will open next week in time for the kick-off of the holiday shopping season, the company said.
