Vacancies Mount in Downtown Glen Rock

Borough hopes to help market Glen Rock stores, according to a council official.

With vacancies becoming ever-more apparent in Glen Rock's downtown, borough officials hope to assist business owners with marketing efforts.

"We are very concerned about a lot of the empty stores downtown and what we might be able to do to assist with that," Councilwoman Pamela Biggs said. "While rents are a great deal of that problem and we can't help with that, we did say we would like to help with a marketing campaign and communications."

Biggs said that she and communications coordinator Heidi Blauvelt would meet with chamber members on Monday to discuss updating the borough website to include store information. The town hopes to promote businesses on the website as well, she said.

A number of departures have hit the town hard in recent months. Rony's Rock Burger; a La Cupcakes; Verizon; Chase Bank; Books, Bytes and Beyond are among the storefronts to close.
