Wyckoff Welcomes Waldwick Prime Meats to Main Street

Grand opening was held Monday

Local business owners and township officials were on hand to help Emilio Vitolo throw a grand opening event at his new Wyckoff butcher shop, Waldwick Prime Meats, on Monday.

The business, which relocated recently from its location in — you guessed it — Waldwick, has been in operation for more than 50 years, Vitolo said, so when he decided to relocate to 384 Main Street in Wyckoff, keeping a familiar name was vital.

"It's important, it connects us to the reputation of the store," Vitolo said Monday.

The new location has everything Vitolo was looking for, including great exposure and sufficient parking, the owner said Monday.

Waldwick Prime Meats opened about four weeks ago, but Vitolo said he wanted to give the business a cushion to between the soft and grand openings to allow himself some time to break in the new store and get a feel for his customers.

So far patrons have been "very encouraging," he said.

Wyckoff Mayor Chris DePhillips, Committeeman Doug Christie,  owner Rosie MacTaggart and Marcia and Jay Vidockler of were all in attendance at the store's ribbon cutting ceremony Monday, as well as Emilio's wife Kristina and his young children Sandra and Paul.

The butcher shop moved into the storefront at 84 Main St. previously occupied by .
