Commuters can now receive train schedule information via text message.
NJ Transit has partnered with Long Island text engine company CooCoo. Commuters can text a station-to-station request to 266266 (CooCoo) and receive a text back with the next scheduled trains as menu options.
Then, commuters can text back the letter corresponding to the train they'd like, and CooCoo will respond with fares and travel times. Commuters can also request specific times in their texts.
The service works with the Metro-North and Long Island railroads as well.
