Pool Parking Lot Closed for 'Remainder of the Year'
Debris from Hurricane Sandy poses safety hazard, borough says.
The Glen Rock municipal pool parking lot will remain closed, possibly until the year's end, as the borough clears debris from Hurricane Sandy.
The lot, which in the offseason serves as a drop-off point for town sports activities at the adjacent field, is currently filled with branches and other materials cleared from streets throughout the borough during the recent storm.
Usually, borough administrator Lenora Benjamin says, storm debris would be taken to a landfill within the town's recycling center. But Sandy created a volume that normal procedures could not accomodate.

"Considering the enormous amount of debris, there just wasn't any room," she said.
The debris deposited in the lot poses hazards, and the borough recommends staying clear. For drop-offs at the field, residents can use the lots adjacent to the recycling center, which the town says will handle the capacitity needed for activities through the remainder of the year.
