Readers' Choice: Best Day Care

Who do you think is the best?

Patch kicked off our new “Readers' Choice” feature last week, in it readers vote on their favorite local business in Ridgewood and Glen Rock. Each week we'll come up with a new category for readers to mouth off about.

Last week you selected  as , this week we're searching for the best local day care.

While we came up with the initial list below, we're also asking you to post any day care centers we might have missed in the comments below. We'll update the poll to reflect your tastes.

Voting closes at 9 a.m. Friday. Ties will be broken by whichever business has the most positive comments below, and positive reviews on Patch Places. We will announce the winner at noon Friday.

Be sure to vote for your favorite day care center and tell us why it’s earned your business in the comments.

Editors Note: Because this poll is not scientific, it is not the sole consideration in choosing a winner. The winner will be determined by the Patch editor, based on comments, poll results and reviews on Patch Places. Please vote only once per survey, per Patch.

We feel so fortunate to have discovered the Little School of Waldwick. What an amazing place. Our daughter has been there for 2 years and we do not want her to graduate! It is such a creative environment with multiple, themed rooms which the children circulate throughout each day - and the teachers and director Maria S. make every child feel so special and loved. We especially like the half-day and full-day options which make it a great place for working and non-working parents alike. And the summer camp is fantastic!

I brought my son to the Little School of Waldwick because I wanted him to develop social skills. He is an only child and does not like sharing and doesn't listen well. Miss Maria, the director, did wonders with him. He became so polite, saying please and thank you. He stopped fidgeting in his seat and could listen to stories at length and do projects. She fully prepared him for kindergarten. He even knew how to read. Kudos to the Little School of Waldwick.

I agree the Little School is really "Bergen's Best -Kept Secret". This school is awesome, from the Mother's Day Tea Party, Donuts With Dads(Father's Day), the Circus Show, Movie Nights (1 night per month), Thanksgiving Show just to name a few. The teachers are very warm, loving and dedicated. The love and the attention that the children receive is wonderful. Go Little School!

My daughter attended the Little School of Waldwick and they are great. My daughter has a learning disability and Miss Maria was great with her. She improved so much and did great when she moved onto kindergarten. Thank you Little School of Waldwick !

When I needed a preschool for my son I felt that The Little School of Waldwick was the best match for us. The environment is stimulating and creative. I can not begin to tell you how much my son learned last year. He went on an archaeological dig -- right in his own classroom! He sailed on the Mayflower, participated in a Circus and has built an igloo. He learned about the Rain Forest and parts of his body. The whole school is creative and stimulating. My boy is bright but was very shy. He now can't wait to go to school and be with his friends. Thank you Little School!

My two children attended the Little School of Waldwick. First of all, when I walked in I was amazed. The school looked like a country club for children ! It was colorful, big, with great play areas, both inside and out, and on top of everything else, it is immaculate ! The teachers are warm and very professional. The projects my children did at the school were amazing. They were so prepared for kindergarten, they could even read. This is THE place to take your children !

If you want a premiere nursery school for your child, then go to the Little School of Waldwick. I toured quite a few school before my wife and I chose them. We thought they had the best facilities and most courteous staff. We were right. Having been there two years now, this school amazes us all the time. They put on great holiday festivities and have THE most amazing circus, with the children participating as the show people, at then end of the school year. Terrific school. They get my vote.

The Little School of Waldwick provides a terrific education to young children. The director, Miss Maria is so involved with the education of each child. My son learned so much in the 2 year she was there. the teachers are wonderful too.

Our little girl attends the Little School of Waldwick and couldn't be happier. She is very shy and we were worried about her starting nursery school but Miss Maria and her staff make her feel comfortable, she adjusted very easily to school. I was so relieved. They really do a wonderful job there.

My granddaughters are both very bright but were immature at the time that they were ready to go to pre-school. After their first year at the Little School they were not only even brighter-but they had matured incredibly. The teachers did a wonderful job. They are very gentle with the kids and readily praise them. The projects and art work that I see sent home are just wonderful. This is a very creative environment which is evident the moment you walk through the front door!

My son is a toddler and attends the Little School of Waldwick. He loves it. They do so many wonderful activities with the kids and the facility is spacious and lovely. I agree with another comment posted earlier. It does look like a country club or children. Absolutely lovely school !!

The Little School of Waldwick is a great choice for your children. When you visit the school, you'll know exactly what I mean. Great learning environment for little ones.

My son started at Sara's Pre-School at 18 months and it has been a wonderful experience for him and us. He is now 2. His teachers are great. They are warm, sweet and nurturing. His day is filled with learning and fun activities. Their playground is great. There is shade from the sun by the large trees that surround the area and the mulch is recycled rubber. I'm amazed at all the things he knows. He can count to 20, he knows his ABC's, he loves to read both with us and by himself. We have been saving all his art work and when he goes through his folder at home, he knows the name of everything he worked on. He enjoys going to school everyday. Maureen & Bob

Moving from Europe to Bergen County was a possible culture shock for our children...the Little School of Waldwick was a very nice choice for us due to the culturally diverse teaching methods used there. The teachers themselves, are the joy there. Never have we seen more loving and committed staff.

Little School of Waldwick is FANTASTIC! Both children attended for 2 years each prior to Kindergarten. They were well prepared for their elementary education. Mrs. Maria & staff are wonderful. The facility is clean, comfortable & safe. I couldn't be happier with the decision I made for my children & their pre-school experience. My oldest is now a steaight A 5th grader !!!

My three children have all been students at The Little School and are so well prepared for elementary school that it almost seems as if they were home-schooled. In fact, Maria, the director, and the extraordinary teachers treat every single student with love and personalized attention which fortifies their strengths and gently addresses the needs of every child in each area where he or she requires a little extra help. Each teacher is carefully selected and trained by Maria. They all bring the same passion and love for children and their education that she embodies. As a physician who places great value on attention to detail, I can truly say that The Little School of Waldwick has given my children the perfect environment to learn and grow. I recommend it without reservation.

All you have to do is walk into the The Little School of Waldwick and you know it is special. The school's set-up and design are both amazing! The craft projects are far-and-away the most creative, fun projects and the shows and recitals always blow me away. I can't wait for the annual circus that the kids put on...it is my favorite part of the year!

My children started their educations at The Little School of Waldwick. Both were well prepared for Kindergarten thanks to Ms Maria and her wonderful staff. As a mother, sending my first child off to school, I knew the Little School was the only place where my child would feel "at home". The set up and design is like nothing I've ever seen, and the staff feels that every child is part of the family. We have made lasting friendships and although both of my children have graduated, we still go back to visit "our family" at the little school.

Is it my imagination, or is someone running amok? It was so much fun to read everyone's comments about their child's schools. Now it seems that someone who had three very complimentary comments made about them is now the proud possessor of over 400 votes- most made in the past hour. The schools in this area are all lovely and all of them deserve praise. Now, let's hope that somebody doesn't need a time out!

If the Little School of Waldwick needs to stuff the ballot box.......maybe its not so great after all.

Sara's preschool has had over 300 votes in the last 2 hours. Much more than any other school listed. Seems that someone should pay attention to that.

Looks like the competition is getting a bit testy ... funny .. I have my children at TLS of Waldwick and it is fantastic. My kids love it. They want to go to school. They are learning. Staff cares. I recommend it and I am sure there are other fine schools for parents too. Plenty of children to educate.

There is by far no better school for little people. The attention and care devoted to each child is second to none.

The Little School is a parents dream come true. The thought of putting our son, who was barely 2 in school, was unimaginable. I was referred to the school by a friend whose two children went to TLS. Her children are brilliant, so I had to look into the school. We also have a 6 year old enrolled in our town public school, but the curriculum and hours for the pre-school program fell very short of TLS. The Director, Maria gave me a tour of the school at 9:00 a.m. when things were in full swing. I met teachers, saw (happy) children in class, saw the quality of the older children’s work, and was thoroughly impressed with how advanced they were for a pre-school. Our son started the following week and two years later he is thriving beyond our wildest dreams. The curriculum has surpassed any expectations,. Our daughter went to pre-school at a private school and their program pales in comparison to TLS. This past week they started learning Site Words!. On top of an incredible curriculum and very dedicated educators, they provide a very loving and nurturing environment. Thank you for caring and doing a wonderful job. We are thrilled with everything you have done for our son.

The Little School of Waldwick is the best preschool in the area. Going back to work with a hard decision for me. I was very worried about what kind of care of my daughter would receive a nursey school or preschool. I went to look at all the schools that I found in the area and I interviewed directors and teachers I looked at the students and envirement and the cost. I left one school crying and others with a sick feeling in my stomach. When I found the Little School I was elated. I spoke to the director and the teachers many times. Each time I brought my daughter I had to pull her away from the toys when it was time to go. Needless to say, we enrolled her and we have been so happy with our choice. It is a wonderful school!

My daughter Katiya had gone to The Little School for 3 years and she LOVED it. She came home everyday and shared something new that she had learned. She had grown & matured so much within days, weeks, and months from the experience that, that school has taught her, it was AMAZING!!!! Maria and the staff have showed so much love to my daughter, they were like our extended family. I also loved the anatomy project. All the holidays that they taught the children was superb. I had tears in my eyes at every play. I also loved movie nights as did she. I have recommended this school to anyone who asks me about pre-school. Love It!!!!!!!!!!!! Stella Schwartz

Professional adults as babysitters in nj can be a good choice to consider if you want the best of services as they are more responsible in whatever they do and are acquainted with being paid for a job.
