PHOTOS: Trees Please on Ridgewood Earth Day

The annual Earth Day in Ridgewood taught hundreds of residents about the value of trees along with much more eco-education on Saturday.

Hundreds came out to Ridgewood's to celebrate under blossoming trees and a brilliant sun. The annual event on Saturday featured numerous educational programs related to this year's theme – trees.

Hosted by the Ridgewood Environmental Advisory Committee (REAC), the Students for Environmental Action club led a scavenger hunt for elementary school students. Students in the middle school also created profiles on trees and there was a multi-media contest drafted up by the high school students.

Bee keepers, landscapers, civic groups, and a wealth of area wildlife were also on hand. Ridgewood workers from several departments talked of environmental initiatives Melissa Baney and a capella group The Maroon Men crooned for the crowds on Saturday.
