Resources for Glen Rock House History Searches

The Glen Rock Historical & Preservation Society (GRHPS) will have several original tax books on hand at the Main Line Train Station museum during the Glen Rock Street Fair this Sunday, from 11 am to 1 pm.  The tax books, on loan from the borough, contain information on house owners, property and building valuations, taxes paid (ridiculously low numbers compared to today), lot sizes, and more.  Some years show a dog tax of $0.50 per dog owned.  There is a treasure trove of information for anyone conducting a home history search, or even just for those who are curious about early Glen Rock.  There will be five of the tax books available for public viewing on Sunday; the books are for the years 1911, 1915, 1922, 1936 and 1940.  The GRHPS will also have Sanborn maps  and old house and street photos from the collection.
