Respect, Give it to Get it Campaign Party

RESPECT will be the focus of a new campaign being rolled out by the Community Relations Advisory Board (CRAB) of Ridgewood and Glen Rock.  In the coming month, committee members and volunteers will canvass the Business Districts and ask business owners to post an original work of art poster depicting civility. The poster is entitled, “Respect, Give it to Get it,”  because courtesy is a first step in preventing bullying, bias acts and violence.

Wednesday, October 23, 2013 The Community Relations Advisory Board of Ridgewood and Glen Rock will meet at 7:00 PM  in The Village of Ridgewood Municipal Building, 131 North Maple Ave. Ridgewood, NJ , first floor Garden Room, to unveil the poster. The art worked was a concept arrived at by consensus between committee members and Ridgewood High School Students. The final product was created by New York City Graphic Design Artist, Paul Grillo.

The community is invited to light refreshments and an opportunity to learn more about the work of CRAB. Posters will be available for all who attend.

The Community Relations Advisory Board was created to overcome bias attitudes toward persons or groups based on their race, color, religion, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation or disability. Appointed by the Mayors of Ridgewood and Glen Rock the all-volunteer Board meets monthly  to provide a listening and networking opportunity in a safe forum for individuals who have experienced an act of bias within our community.  All  meetings are open to the public and provide a safe environment for community members experiencing or witnessing bias-related crime to be heard.

Individuals working or living within the Ridgewood Environs who have experienced bias intimidation, housing discrimination, racism, sexism, or an injustice based on their sexual orientation are urged to contact the board at crabnj@gmail.com.
